Reading log #1 Magisterium the iron trial by Holly Black & Cassandra Clare(spoilers)

Hey guys it is Casey back here with yet another post where today I will post the first of my reading (b)logs where basically I read a book of my choice and form an opinion on it and I chose Magisterium the iron trial as my first book so I hope you all enjoy.

This book is about Callum Hunt who has had a problem with his leg ever since he was a baby & now 12 years after that event he tries to fail the Magisterium's iron trial because of all the stuff his father has told him but he is a boy who fails at failing and gets himself the opposite of what he wanted.Call is now enrolled at the Magisterium and is caught in the fact that his life may not be as it seems and he gradually learns secrets which lead into more mystery than before.

Opinion 1
The character of Callum Hunt is an interesting one as he is not your typical protagonist as he does not want to learn magic because of what his father has told him as opposed to every other protagonist who would jump at the opportunity. For example when he is in the iron trial he repeatedly tries to fail but accidentally succeeds for some reason that Master Rufus does not explain in the book but my assumption is that he wanted to teach Call how to control his abilities & to reveal to him what he can truly do.
I think that it is meant to show that people who are really bad at something can rise up & potentially be one of the best at that thing with the right teacher and training and I can sort of relate to Call as he is an outcast much like me and he seems to outperform everybody else but not in the way that you would expect which even though I cannot connect with I would find admirable and the fact that he attempts to find loopholes is something that I would definitely do & I feel like we would really connect that way.

Opinion 2
The primary location of the book is also unique in a way because it is a unique form of magical school mostly because it is a complex of tunnels and caverns built inside of a mountain and it is so complex that you can get lost easily as a first year which is stated about halfway through the book by Call,Tamara & Aaron.I like the setting because of all the wonders it has ranging from magical pools of water to caverns big enough for 3 Dragons which is absolutely nuts even for fantasy and their whole elemental magic system is awesome as well because their is a lot you can do with it and in my mind would be considered a soft magic system.A soft magic system is a magic system with very few rules stated meaning its limits are unknown. The elementals are also something that I love as every fantasy story needs at least a few magical creatures and the elementals are perfect for the roll.
To put things simply, I love the magisterium and its unique location with a tonne of possibilitys and if I was there then I would probably try to see everything it has to offer.I guess the lesson you can take away from this is that every location is unique in its own way with some places being more unique  than others.

This books location can speak to everyone because it could be like a Utopia for us & who would not want to go there and I guess the lesson you can take away from this is that no matter where you come from ,you can always find a place that truly speaks to you

Anyway guys I hope you enjoyed this post and quick heads up, there will be 5 more of these throughout the year so stay tuned for that and I will see you all in the next post bye bye.

Hey guys it is Casey back here yet again with yet another post where today it may be the last one of the year and I am in D.T.E today.Anyway my goal today is to say what both 3d printing and laser cutting are because that is what we have been doing these last few weeks.

3D printing
3d printing is taking a 3d model from your computer and through the use of a specially designed machine called a 3d printer and some filament create the object from the computer. This technology could revolutionize our way of life in a dramatic way because say if you brake a component of something then you can print a new one which can save you money.

Laser Cutting
Laser cutting is a technology used to cut materials for many different purposes but mostly for industrial use with the technology just recently rolling into schools all around the world.Laser cutting can also be used to engrave different materials with stuff like logos or full blown images of pretty much anything you can think of.This technology can help us in the future for building materials needing to be built and we could likely use it for building habitats on other planets which we are gonna be doing in a few decades.

Anyway guys I hope you all enjoyed this potential final post of 2018 and if so I will see you all in 2019 bye bye

Hey guys it is Casey back here again with yet another post where today I am back in stone art with a final design for what I shall do with my big block and for those of you who know about my YouTube channel will recognize the design from my banner and intro.
The things it symbolizes lie in the three koru's which represents how many generations of year 13 there have been in the 43 year history of hornby high.

The second symbolism is with the Mangopore which is the U shape engulfing the central flame which symbolizes the following.Strength,.leadership,agility,tenacity,unrelenting determination, courage and wealth, all qualities of hornby high school.
Also I mentioned my YouTube channel earlier and for those of you who are interested check it out in the link down below but anyway that about raps it up for today so I hope you all enjoyed and I will see you all in the next post and video bye bye

Hey guys it is Casey back here yet again with another post where today I am in stone sculpting for our passion projects.
https://sites.google.com/hornby.school.nz/passionprojects2018/stone-sculpting
Basically this site here will give you everything you need to know about it.
I am gonna recap today's events and to start off we first got to begin sculpting a koru for an hour and then we changed to developing our idea for the second half of the day.
This is an image of my ideas.

Basically what I am gonna do is select one and them sculpt it and I have made my pick and that is the one in the middle bottom. And at the moment we are just refining the shape of our koru sculpt and taking it from a 2d shape into 3d.
That is all we have done at this point in time and I will update you guys next week
also please check out my YouTube channel linked here if you have an interest in art
