chapter 1
- What are the advantages and disadvantages of first person narration?
- Why do you think Ellie needs to tell the story in chronological order?
- Pick one interesting word from the chapter, find its meaning, and explain why it is interesting.
- John Marsden foreshadows several events and characters in this chapter. Make three predictions based on the evidence in the text about what may occur later in the story.
- What kind of story do you think Ellie is going to tell? Uses evidence from the text to support your answers.
- What set of skills do these characters have that convince their parents that they can ‘go bush’ independently. Find examples for three characters.
1.An advantage of first person narration is that you actually feel what the story is like in the view of one of the main characters but the disadvantages of this kind of narration are that you only hear the story through the eyes of one person and not everyone.
2.I think the reason why Ellie says she needs to do it in chronological order is because then you can hear the story from the beginning to the end and it works better story wise.
3.word chosen/foreign/a characteristic of a country or language that is other than ones own and it is interesting because you could put this into a variety of situations
4.when Ellie explains Greek roulette to us it may be foreshadowing a section of a fight scene later on in the film.
5.she is probably gonna tell us a rebellion story because some rebellion story's start out like the way this one is and the title gives it away.
6.the set of skills varies from character to character and a set of skills that they all have is their intelligence which pretty much translates to everyone. With a few of them being smart enough for them to go by themselves for a few days
chapter 2
- How did the group of teenagers ascend Tailors Stitch?
- What are the two special events happening the day after the teenagers leave for the bush?
- How many days were they planning on staying? How much food do you think is reasonable to bring, split between 7 teenagers?
- Who is the Hermit and what is he supposed to have done?
- Do you think the Hermit will be significant to this story? Why/Why not?
- Is their decent down Satan’s Steps into Hell dangerous? Discuss what are the dangers, how could they have made it safer, what would you have done?
- Predict what the bridge signifies
1.They ascended tailors stitch by driving up with a land rover that they had available at the time.
2.A concert that the town celebrates and the other event that happens is the fair that happens every year.
3.they were planning on going for about a week and I think the amount of food they need for that amount of time is about 7-10 kilo grams.
4.the hermit is supposed to be an ex murderer who killed his wife and baby.
5.I think that he will be significant to the story and actually give our main characters what they need to win this war
6.the descent down Satan's steps is definitely dangerous and the further down they go it will be harder to get back up and the dangers of the descent are that it is a long way down to the next step so their is the risk of breaking an arm & a leg and i would have went ahead and looked to see if their was a way around Satan's steps that was much easier.
7.I predict that the bridge signifies that they are not the first ones here and may run into some ruins of an old town from long ago.
Anyway I hope you guys enjoyed this post and I will see you guys in the next post so bye bye.
